JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With two rounds in the books at the Jacksonville Courtyard Classic at Hidden Hills Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla., the FGCU women’s golf team sits in a tie for second place on the 10-team leaderboard, just one stroke out of first place. Four of the five FGCU golfers currently sit inside the top 30, with sophomore Georgia Price (Winchester, England/Fort Myers HS) leading the way in a share of third place overall.

“Today was a good day for us,” said head coach Sarah Trew. “We struggled in the first round but really managed to bounce back in the second 18. We need to take this confidence from our second round today and apply it to tomorrow. This is a course you can really score on and be aggressive. If we can stay patient and take advantage of our opportunities, I think we have a good shot tomorrow."

The Green and Blue combined for a two round score of 604 (310-294). The Eagles’ second round 294 ranks the squad tied for the lowest round in program history. The 2009-10 FGCU women’s golf team shot a combined 294 in the first round of the Atlantic Sun Championships.

Entering Tuesday’s final round of play, the Eagles, who are tied with Daytona State College for second place, sit one shot back of tournament host Jacksonville (603) and one stroke ahead of fourth place Troy (605).

Sitting in a two-way tie for third place in the 59-player field, Price shot 75 and 70 to open play. Her second round 2-under 70 ranks her tied for fifth place in the FGCU record books for lowest round with redshirt junior Briana Carlson (Inverness, Fla./Citrus HS).

Sitting in a tied for ninth overall, redshirt freshman Kristin Swindell (Bradenton, Fla./Braden River HS) fired an opening round 76, followed by a second round 2-over 74.

Freshman Mei Khuan Yong (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia/S.M.K. Cochrane) finished the afternoon 14th with a 152 (76-76), while freshman Sara Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn./Minnesota Virtual Academy HS) turned in a 157 (83-74) to sit in t-27th place.

Sitting in t-43rd, freshman Rebecca Van Etten (Trinity, Fla./JW Mitchell HS) carded 83 and 81 for a score of 164.
