CRYSTAL LAKE, Fla. – One round remains at the at the 2013 UC Spring Invitational at the Plantation Inn Golf Resort and Spa and the FGCU women’s golf team find themselves in a tie for 7th place in the 17-team field after day two. The Eagles moved back to seventh after being in a tie for 5th place after day one.

Sophomore Chelsea Guoynes (Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City Central HS) leads the Eagles through day two after shooting a 1-over par 73 in the second round of competition. Guoynes currently sits in a tie for 13th, individually with a total score of 152 (79-73).

"Today we didn’t play as well as we had hoped. The wind really picked up on the back nine to the point where it would influence your line of putt," said head coach Sarah Trew. "I think it distracted us a little. Chelsea (Guoynes) really stepped up today and we needed it. We still are in a good spot, we just need to focus on playing a little more freely tomorrow."

The Green and Blue combined for an opening round score of 307 (19-over par) to position themselves in a tie for 5th on leaderboard. In round two, the Eagles struggled, posting a team score of 313 to move back into a tie for 7th place. Cincinnati leads the tournament through two rounds with a total score of 604 (304-300).
