SARASOTA, Fla. – The FGCU women’s golf team dropped 12 strokes from its second-round total to card a 298 in the final round of play at the 36th Annual FIU Pat Bradley Invitational on Tuesday. The Eagles finished the three-day event held at Lakewood Ranch Country Club with a team total of 904 and a ranking of 10th in the field, while senior Briana Carlson (Inverness, Fla./Citrus High School) took sixth place among 93 golfers with a total score of 214.
“Today we played really well,” said head coach Sarah Trew. “Coming into the tournament, we made it a goal as a team to focus on what we can control and to keep our attitudes positive, even when we hit rough patches. I think we accomplished that goal through all three rounds and I’m really proud of that and the way we stayed patient and kept our composure. We need to work on getting our fourth score to be better, but I think we’re on the verge of doing really well as a team. ”
Missouri recorded a team score of 286 on the day to jump ahead on the leaderboard and take first place with a combined score of 873. Daytona State and FIU claimed second and third with team scores of 874 and 876, respectively, while Maryland and Memphis rounded out the top five. The score combined with Carlson’s rounds of 72 and 71 on Sunday and Monday led her to a total score of 214, for her best tournament this season.
