Women's Soccer Hits the Road for a Pair of A-Sun Games This Weekend
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU women's soccer team looks to overtake Belmont in the A-Sun conference as they travel for two A-Sun Conference match ups this weekend. FGCU (8-5, 4-2 A-Sun) will travel to Belmont (10-3-1, 4-2 A-Sun) on Friday, Oct. 19, at 7:30 p.m. The Eagles will then square off against Lipscomb (3-10-1, 1-4-1 A-Sun) on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 1 p.m. The Eagles go into this weekend leading in five offensive categories; they are team leader in points with 100, goals with 32 per game, averaging 2.46 goals per game, assist with 36, and averaging 2.77 assist per game.

Scouting Belmont: In their last outing, the Belmont women’s soccer team (10-2-1, 4-1 A-Sun) was tripped up by visiting Kennesaw State (10-2, 5-0 A-Sun) on Friday night at the Whitten Soccer Complex. The Bruins were held off 3-0 and fell to 4-1 in conference play while Kennesaw State remains the only unbeaten team in the A-Sun. The loss snapped a five match win streak for the Bruins
The Bruins have outshot theirs opponents 20 to 9, they average just over 1 goal a game, while only allowing less than one per game. The Bruins are ranked eighth in the A-Sun in goals per game, averaging 1.43. They are seventh in assist per game, averaging 1.07 per game. The Bruins are the A-Sun leader in goals allowed, they have only allowed 9 goals all season.
Scouting Lipscomb: Sunday afternoon games have usually not brought out the best in the Lady Bisons this season. It was more of the same last Sunday as Kennesaw State extended its Atlantic Sun record to 6-0 with a 5-0 defeat of the Lady Bisons. Caitlin Dingle paced the Kennesaw State offense with three goals. Kennesaw State made 34 shots, including 15 shots on goal. The Lady Bisons had one shot which was also a shot on goal by Leisli Lopez.
Lady Bisons goalkeeper Katie Shelton gave up five goals, but she also made nine saves. One save was credited to the team. The Lady Bisons fell to 3-10-1 overall, 1-4 in the conference. Kennesaw State is 11-2-0 overall.
