Womens Soccer Adds Three to 2008 Recruiting Class

Fort Myers, Fla. - After previously announcing eleven new members to the FGCU women's soccer team, head coach Jim Blankenship added three new reinforcements. The Eagles will have a total of 14 new players in 2008.

Ashley Marie Ciesielczyk, Kristin Nespoli and Samantha Ragan will join the FGCU women’s soccer roster in 2008.

The three incoming players will join fellow newcomers KC Correllus, Olivia Elias, Sarah Fagler, Amanda Goble, Jeannel Huffman, Casey Lademan, Laura Leonard, Brianna McCall, Stacey Payne, Gina Petracco and Stephanie Powers on next year's squad. Blankenship said these three newcomers will bring talent and versatility to the Eagles lineup, who return 10 starters from the 2007 team, which went 10-5-0 overall and 6-2-0 in the Atlantic Sun.

Ashley Marie Ciesielczyk
Hometown: Toledo, Ohio
High School: Clay High School
ODP/Club: Pacesetter Soccer Club

Ciesielczyk led Clay High School to a 15-1-3 record and a Northwest Ohio High School Soccer League Division 1 title this past season. In four years at Clay High School, Ciesielczyk scored 61 career goals, and had 57career assist which was good for 14th in the State of Ohio. In her final year she scored 17 goals with 16 assist (1st Place State of Ohio Division 1).

Kristin Nespoli
Hometown: Carmel, New York
High School: Ida S. Baker High School
Florida Premier Soccer Club

A four year varsity starter, and team Captain in the 2005-2006, 2006-2007, and the 2007-2008 seasons, Nespoli scored 71 career goals with 53 career assists. In her senior season, Nespoli scored 22 goals to lead the Bulldogs (12-5-6) to the District 5A-15 runners-up spot. Her resume also includes team MVP honors in the 2006-2007, 2007-2008 seasons, All-Conference-2006-2007, 2007-2008, the Daily Breeze Female Athlete of the Week-November 2007, and All Area 1st Team- 2006-2007, 2007-2008. She also helped the Florida Premier Soccer Club team to a 2007 Orange Classic International Championship, and the 2008 Region C Champions, 2007 Region C Finalists, 2007 Seminole Octoberfest Finalists, 2007 Seminole Memorial Day Finalists, 2007 Blackwatch Labor Day Finalists, FLUGSA College Showcase League Runner-Up, 2006 Blackwatch Tournament Champions, and the 2006 “President’s Cup-National Tournament in Alabama” Runner-Up.

Samantha Ragan
Hometown: Miami, Florida
High School: Coral Shores High School
Cutler Ridge Soccer Club

Samantha tallied 24 goals and 11 assists in her senior year at Coral Shores High school. She was named all-county as a junior and senior. She was the team's captain in her junior and senior years, and was named team MVP in 2007. She helped lead Coral Shores to a regional semi finals birth and a 15-1-4 record in the 2007-2008 season. In 2007, Ragan scored 19 goals, and had 8 assist with the Cutler Ridge Soccer Club.
