Fort Myers, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University women's soccer team recorded their fourth straight shutout as four different Eagles score in a 5-0 win over Howard University on Wednesday night at the FGCU Soccer Complex. The Eagles improve to 5-1, and the Lady Bison fall to 1-5 on the year.

“Their keeper made some amazing saves, and kept them game, “said head coach Jim Blankenship. “We played well, and we kept going right after them and it eventually it paid off. After the first goal we gained some confidence and started scoring. We keep getting better every match, and as you can see tonight, we have some depth with four different players scoring.”

Despite the Eagles outshooting the Lady Bison 14-1 in the first half, the score remained tied after one half of play, 0-0.

In the 47th minute, sophomore Lindsay Haw (Palm City, Fla.) put the Eagles ahead after Amanda Suchko (Greensburg, Penn.) sent a good ball that found Haw in the middle of the box to give the Eagles an 1-0 lead.

Casey Lademann (Flagler Beach, Fla.) also found the net in the 66th minute with assists by Jeannel Huffman (Clearwater, Fla.) and Lindsay Haw.

Freshman Gina Petracco (Fort Myers, Fla.) scored her first of two goals on the night in the 67th minute after her first shot was blocked and reflected back to her for the easy goal. Her second goal collegiate goal came in the 83rd minute after a sliding assist from Brianna McCall (Fort Myers, Fla.) found Petracco wide open near the right post.

Caytlan MacKenzie (Calgary Alberta) also scored for the Eagles. Petracco sent a great ball from the right side of the box to find MacKenzie by the left post.

In the game, the Eagles outshot the Lady Bison 34-1, had 11 corner kicks, and Lady Bison’s goalkeeper Jessamyn Perkins recorded 17 saves in the contest.
