Four Eagles Earn A-Sun Honors
Junior midfielder Amber McCall was voted first team Atlantic Sun All-Conference for the second consecutive year, while Sophomore Lindsay Haw and KC Correllus earned second team all-conference. Correllus also earned a spot on the all-freshman team along with Eagle goalkeeper Stephanie Powers, announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
“I am excited for everyone,” said FGCU head coach Jim Blankenship. “They have all worked extremely hard and its nice to see their hard work and dedication recognized.”
McCall takes first team honors after starting in every match this season, she finished with five goals, two assist, for 12 points.
Lindsay Haw takes second team honors, leading the Eagles in goals (7), assists (9) and points (23) in the 2008 season. Haw finished seventh in goals, second in assists, third in points, and tied for first with four game-winners in the A-Sun.
KC Correllus takes second team, and all-freshmen team honors. Correllus is one of three FGCU freshmen to play in 17 matches in 2008. She was a major part of the Eagles back field that posted eight shutouts on the season.
Stephanie Powers takes all-freshmen team honors after finishing second in save percentage (.842), second in goals against average (.81), and seventh in shutouts (3) in the A-Sun.
