Lady Eagles off to a Flying Start as They Prepare for Duke University
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Lady Eagles start off with a win and a tie for their spring season, beating Victoria University 1-0 with a goal by freshman, Stacey Payne from an assist by Amber McCall. On February 22nd, the Eagles battled with top ranked Miami to a 1-1 draw, Gina Petracco scored when she followed an attempt off of a corner kick to find the goal.
The Lady Eagles continue their spring play at home this weekend, on Saturday March 21st, against Florida Southern and Nova, game times at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m respectively. These games are preparation for the upcoming match on March 28th where the eagles will be taking on No. 8 Duke Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. Prior to the game, players from FGCU and Duke are conducting a youth clinic for girls 13 and under. Tickets are still available and cost $5.00 for the both game and clinic.
FGCU Women’s soccer spring season will conclude the first weekend in April. On April 4th the women host the University of Tampa at 11 a.m., and then hit the road on April 5th against FIU.
