FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University women’s soccer team heads north to Nashville, Tenn. to face Belmont in the Atlantic Sun women’s soccer Game of the Week at 5:00 p.m. on Friday at the Whitten Soccer Complex.

The Eagles enter this weekend fourth in the conference standings as the Bruins sit in second behind Kennesaw State. The match features two of the top goalies in the conference in FGCU’s Stephanie Powers and Belmont’s Sari Lin. Both have claimed A-Sun Defensive Player of the week honors this season with Powers earning the conference award twice. The Eagles are 2-0 all-time against the Bruins with two 1-0 victories.

On the offensive side of the ball, Amber McCall leads the Eagles with 11 points and five goals. Freshman midfielder Jessica Swartzentruber ranks second on the Eagles in points, finding the net three times and passing out three assists.

Powers enters Friday’s matchup with the Bruins having not allowed more than one goal in 13 consecutive matches, and leads the A-Sun in shutouts (6), goals against average (0.68) and save percentage (.844).

Offensively, Belmont’s Jayme Trocino ranks second in the conference in points and points per game, while leading the A-Sun in total goals scored.

Lin enters the match attempting to rebound from a match against Kennesaw State in which she gave up a season-high four goals. She entered the match on a shutout streak of over 380 minutes, while the Bruins only allowed four goals in their previous 10 games combined.

On Sunday, Oct. 18 the Eagles will travel to Lipscomb to face the Bison at 1:00 p.m. The Eagles hold 1-0-1 all-time record against Lipscomb, as the teams played to 1-1 tie last season.

Lipscomb enters this weekend tenth in the conference standings, and is coming off 7-0 loss to Kennesaw State last Friday night. The 7-0 loss was their worst margin of defeat in an A-Sun game since losing 5-0 to Kennesaw State in 2007.
