FGCU Women's Soccer Reach Out to Community, From One Hand to Another
|
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU Women’s soccer team had a wonderful opportunity last week to drop off their collection of non-perishable food items to Interfaith Caregivers of South Lee which is part of the Estero/San Carlos United Way House. The building not only houses the food pantry portion but has other onsite programs that are connected to the United Way including: Counseling Sessions, Money Management classes, and Meals on Wheels.
The collection started when the women’s soccer team hosted clinics at a couple of the local Soccer clubs, including Island Coast Soccer Academy. The team asked participating players to donate non-perishable food items. Due to the success, these efforts will continue throughout the year. Anyone interested in supporting their efforts can contact FGCU head coach Jim Blankenship at (239) 590-7571.
