Women’s Soccer Travels to No. 15 UCF

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU women’s soccer team will travel to Orlando to face in-state Conference USA foe No. 15 UCF (4-1-1) on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex. The Eagles are facing their second-straight ranked opponent after meeting then-No. 9 Florida in Gainesville last Sunday.
The game against the Knights will conclude FGCU’s non-conference slate as well as the Eagles three-game road swing. This is the second meeting all-time between the two teams with UCF holding a 1-0 lead in the series.
The Eagles are coming off a loss to then-No. 9 Florida in Gainesville last Sunday. FGCU is 5-3 on the season after earning its fifth win last Friday against FIU in a thrilling, 3-2, victory in Miami. The Eagles scored three second-half goals after falling behind 2-0 in the game using goals from sophomore Kayley Clay (Cape Coral, Fla./Bishop Verot HS/Lynn University), freshman Melissa Arnold (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional HS) and the game-winner from senior Gina Petracco (Fort Myers, Fla./Bishop Verot HS).
Arnold continues to pace the Eagles’ offensive attack with three goals and two assists, while leading the team with eight points.
Junior defender Ashley Ciesielczyk (Oregon, Ohio./Clay HS) had two assists in the win over FIU to bring her season assist total to four. Ciesielczyk is currently ranked 30th in the nation in assists.
Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Powers (Seffner, Fla./Armwood HS) has 41 saves and two shutouts on the year. Powers is currently 24th in the country in saves and 21st in goalie minutes played with 742 on the season.
The Knights are 4-1-1 with their only loss coming against then-No. 17 Wake Forest, 1-0, on August 21 in Orlando. UCF received national recognition this week when it was ranked No. 15 by Soccer America. The Knights returned to the top 25 after finishing the weekend 2-0, winning the Virginia Nike Soccer Classic Title in Charlottesville, after picking up a pair of wins against then-No.19 Penn State and Washington State.
Junior Nicolette Radovcic is tied for the team lead with three goals including two against Penn State last weekend. Radovcic was named to Soccer America's team of the week, as well as, CollegeSoccer360 Primetime Performer of the week. Junior Tishia Jewell has three goals and a team-leading six assists on the year. UCF goalkeeper Aline Reis was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Team of the Week after she produced her second shutout of the season over Washington State.
