FORT MYERS, Fla. – After picking up two Atlantic Sun victories against USC Upstate and ETSU last weekend, the FGCU women’s soccer team has learned that it’s ranked 61st in the recent RPI rankings moving up 16 spots from last week’s position.

The Eagles are 11-3-2 on the season and are tied for first in the A-Sun with a 6-0-1 record, good for 19 points. FGCU is currently on a 20-game conference unbeaten streak (17-0-3) dating back to October 2009.

FGCU is ahead of the likes of UConn, Washington, Alabama, Nebraska, Michigan and St. John’s. The Eagles are one of 12 teams with six or more road wins and 20th amongst non-BCS teams.

The Green and Blue have also been named to TopDrawerSoccer’s Tournament 64 rankings coming in at No. 55. The Tournament 64 rankings are a running attempt to project the postseason college soccer tournament qualifiers, including every automatic conference berth. FGCU is eligible for postseason play for the first time this season.

Earlier this week, seniors Olivia Elias (Coral Springs, Fla./American Heritage-Delray HS) and KC Correllus (Merritt Island, Fla./Satellite HS/Florida State) swept the A-Sun weekly awards with Elias being named the Player of the Week and Correllus receiving the Defensive Player of the Week.

The Eagles enter the upcoming weekend on a eight-game shutout streak and haven’t allowed a goal in conference play. Senior Stephanie Powers (Seffner, Fla./Armwood HS) is the leader in goal and tops the conference with 10 shutouts and 0.72 goals against average. Powers’ 29 career shutouts is now tied for the A-Sun all-time lead, equaling the total produced by Stetson’s April Eilering from 2003-06.

Redshirt junior Ashley Ciesielczyk (Oregon, Ohio/Clay HS) leads the team with 18 points on three goals and an A-Sun leading 12 assists. Ciesielczyk’s 12 assists are ranked second in the nation and she has two three-assist games this season.

FGCU will close out the A-Sun regular season this weekend when it heads to Nashville, Tenn. for a pair of games. The Eagles’ two-game road trip will begin on Friday, Oct. 21 at Lipscomb. Gametime is slated for 8 p.m. ET.
