FORT MYERS, Fla., - The FGCU women’s soccer team along with Azul, the FGCU mascot, visited the Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.
“I thought it was a great experience for our team as well as the children at the hospital,” said Head Coach Jim Blankenship. “I thought our kids were great, it was neat to see everyone just having a good time and enjoying the moment rather than worrying about your problems. Our team had a great time getting a chance to know some really special kids in the community. It is great for our university and athletic department to have a chance to impact the lives of these kids during the holiday season.”
The women’s soccer team and Azul delivered “holiday cheer,” party snacks, arts and crafts and toys to the children in the hospital. The children were able to spend time with the team and share stories during the visit.
