FGCU Women's Soccer Announces 2008 Signing Class Fort Myers, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast University Women's Soccer team and head coach Jim Blankenship announced Thursday, February 14, their signing class for the 2008 season. The Eagles signed nine freshmen to National Letters of Intent with an additional two already enrolled at FGCU this spring. The newest additions to the Eagle soccer team include KC Correllus, Olivia Elias, Sarah Fagler, Amanda Goble, Jeannel Huffman, Casey Lademan, Laura Leonard, Brianna McCall, Stacey Payne, Gina Petracco and Stephanie Powers.

Correllus and Lademan arrived on campus in January enrolling at FGCU for the spring semester. While making the quick transition from Florida State, both student-athletes have been participating in off-season conditioning in preparation for the spring season.

"We are really excited to have this talented group of young ladies enter our program," said Blankenship. "We feel that we have addressed every area of the team, and this is an outstanding group. We have a solid foundation and our new class adds special pieces to that. Each young lady comes from a great youth system, and at FGCU they are expected to excel not only on the field but in the class room as well.”

Here is a look at the 2008 Eagles soccer signing class:

Olivia Elias, Coral Springs, Fla.

Elias has helped lead American Heritage Boca/Delray to a State Championship in 2004 and 2006, State Runner-up in 2005, 2007-2008, and Regional Champs from 2004-2006. She was named team MVP in the 2006, and 2007 seasons while at American Heritage. Elias was also nominated All-County First Team 2006, 2007, and 2008. Elias played club soccer for the Weston Soccer Club. She was also a member of the Florida ODP team for three years, and a member of the Regional ODP team in 2007, and 2008.

Sarah Fagler, Gainsville, Fla.

The New Haven, CT, native earned varsity letters in two sports at Oak Hall High School. She earned letters in soccer 2004-2008, and track 2007-2008. She was nominated for the Area All-Star Team in 2008 as a senior, and was team captain from 2006-2008. Fagler’s resume includes; ODP Sate Team 2003-2005, ODP Regional III Montevallo, Ala. 2004-2005, a member of the Gainesville Hotshots from 2002-2007, a member of the Countryside Lightning in Clearwater Fla. In the fall 2007 season, Fagler played for the IUS Elite in Orlando, Fla. 2007-2008. She helped the U-13, U-14 and U-15 team to the final four, the U-15 to the state championship game and a berth in the UF Gator Showcase championship. She helped lead the U- 17, U-18 to the Disney Showcase championship game. She allowed the least amount of goals for the Hotshots in multiple seasons (U-14, U-15, U-16).

Amanda Goble, Lutz, Fla.

Goble currently attends Land O’Lakes High School where she averaged over 11 goals a season. She earned varsity letters in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. Goble led her team to win the Bobcat Invitational in 2008, and was named MVP for the 2006 and 2007 seasons. She earned Sunshine Athletic Conference (SAC) First Team in 2006, Tampa Tribune All County Second Team in 2006, St.Pete Times All County Second Team in 2006, SAC Second Team in 2007, St.Pete Times First Team in 2007, and Tampa Tribune Second Team in 2007. Goble helped her club team, Real Salt Lake Florida win the State Championship in 2007. Goble also played for the Blackwatch Soccer Club for 2 years, the Hillsborough Soccer Club for one year, and the Real Salt Lake Florida for three years.

Jeannel Huffman, Clearwater, Fla.

Huffman was team captain at Countryside High School as a senior leading her team to the district finals in 2008. She was named MVP and rookie of the year in 2007. In two years at Countryside, she averaged 13 goals a season and led her team in assist as a senior. In 2007, she led her club team, RSL Florida to a State Championship.

Laura Leonard, Calgary, Alberta

The Calgary native attends Centennial High School. Leonard currently plays club for the South West United Premiers, and has gained national and international experience, paying in tournaments in China; August 2006, San Diego; 2006, Dallas; 2006 and 2007, Tacoma; 2007, Las Vegas; 2007.

Brianna McCall, Fort Myers, Fla.

McCall was named team captain as a junior and senior at Fort Myers High School. She earned Offensive Player of the Year, All-Area, All-State, and MVP as a sophomore, scoring 23 goals with 17 assists. The Fort Myers native also was nominated Honorable Mention All-Area as a junior. McCall averaged just over 21 goals a season in her high school career. She was also a member of the Florida Premier from 2002-present, leading them to win the Orange Classic three straight years 2004-2007. She was also a member of the Florida ODP team in 2003, as she got pulled up to play with the 1989, and also played with the 89’s again in 2004. McCall’s resume also includes a member of the Lee County Strikers from 1995-2001. She is also the sister of current Eagle soccer player midfielder Amber McCall who earned First-Team All-Atlantic Sun accolades last season.

Stacey Payne, Coral Springs, Fla.

As a senior, Payne set the American Heritage Boca/Delray school record for goals in a season with 37. She helped lead her team to a State Championship in the 2004, 2006 season, and state finalist in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. She finished her senior with 37 goals and 23 assist. She was also a member of the Florida ODP ‘A’ Team in 2003, and a member of the Team Boca Soccer Club. With Team Boca, Payne helped Team Boca to win the Disney Showcase and the Orange Classic.

Gina Petracco, Fort Myers, Fla.

Petracco was team captain at Bishop Verot High School as a senior leading her team to a District Championship with a record of 18-2-3. She also helped Bishop Verot to four straight District Championships 2005-2008. In 2008, she was the USA Today Prep Player of the Year, and she also holds the school scoring record with 48 goals in one season and 103 for her career. She led SW Florida with 48 goals, 8 assist and 104 total points in 22 games. Petracco carries a 4.1 GPA, and is a current member of the National Honor Society; Petracco was a Regional III pool for two years (2003-2004). She was also a member of the Florida ODP team in 2002-2006 and played club soccer for the Florida Premier Soccer Club. In 2007, Petracco helped the FL Premier earn a spot in the U-18 FYSA Championships Final Four, and helped the Premier to win the U-18 Orange Classic Championship from 2004-2007. She was the leading goal scorer for the FL Premier in 2005 and 2007.

Stephanie Powers, Seffner, Fla.

Powers earned varsity letters in soccer 2005, 2007, 2008, and in volleyball 2007-2008. As a senior, Powers was team captain in Soccer and Volleyball. She was nominated First Team All-Conference, Honorable Mention in soccer. In volleyball she was named All-Conference, Honorable Mention, and awarded The Golden Hawk Award. She also helped her club team, the RLS Florida 89/90 to win a state Championship in 2007. Powers was also a 2008 ODP National Champ.
