This weekend was a success for the FGCU women's soccer team, on the field and in the community. The second annual spring event started with nearly 250 girls participating in a clinic at 4:00pm, and a game at 6:00pm. The collaboration of FGCU and Miami players created an exciting learning environment.

The FGCU women's soccer team continued their spring season with a 2-0 victory this past Sunday against the Florida Gators in Gainesville. With the win the Eagles picked up their third consecutive victory and remain undefeated this spring.

The FGCU women's soccer team will participate in a community endeavor Saturday afternoon, March 27, hosting a soccer clinic for girls 14 and under at the FGCU Soccer Complex at 4 p.m. Following the clinic is a women's soccer game against the University of Miami at 6 p.m.

The Florida Gulf Coast University women's soccer program and head coach Jim Blankenship has announced the signing of five National Letters of Intent for the FGCU class of 2014. The talented 2014 recruiting class is comprised of players from Florida, Indiana, and Washington state.

The Eagles continued their spring season with a 1-0 victory this past Sunday against Florida International University. The Eagles dominated play in the first half which created their game winning goal. After a hard tackle, Brittany Burt took the ball from FIU and blasted a shot past the goalie. The goal was her second goal of the spring season.

Jim Blankenship, head women's soccer coach at Florida Gulf Coast University, and his staff have announced the dates for their 2010 Summer Camps. Blankenship and his staff will hold a Jr. Elite Camp (June 17-21) and an Elite Camp (June 25-29) at the FGCU Soccer Complex, as well as a Day Camp (August 2-6).

The FGCU men's and women's soccer programs received national recognition when the 2009 NSCAA College Team Academic Award Winners were announced. A total of 470 soccer teams (141 men, 329 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Of that total, only 97 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized.

The Florida Gulf Coast University women's soccer team paid a visit The Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida at HealthPark this past week. The Eagles brought party snacks, and arts and crafts for the young patients.

Four FGCU student-athletes received conference honors led by Katherine Correllus and Amber McCall, both earning First-Team All-Atlantic Sun honors. Joining the First-Team All-Conference performers is Danielle Faller who was named Freshman of the Year and goalkeeper Stephanie Powers who earned A-Sun Second-Team honors.

Amber McCall and Emily Barrett both played in FGCU's first game in 2007, when the Eagles defeated Alabama State 10-0. It seems only fitting that McCall and Barrett, who both started on Sunday, would end their FGCU careers in similar fashion as the Eagles closed out the 2009 season with a 10-0 shutout over USC Upstate.

The Florida Gulf Coast University women's soccer team got their second straight Atlantic Sun victory as they defeated East Tennessee State by a score of 3-0 on Friday night at the FGCU Soccer Complex. The win puts the Eagles tied for third in the A-Sun Standings with Stetson.

After splitting a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference matches last weekend, the FGCU women's soccer team concludes the 2009 season with a pair of conference matches. The Eagles host ETSU on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and USC Upstate on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Sunday's game will be the final home game for FGCU's two seniors.
