FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Eagles continued their spring season with a 1-0 victory this past Sunday against Florida International University. The Eagles dominated play in the first half which created their game winning goal. After a hard tackle, Brittany Burt took the ball from FIU and blasted a shot past the goalie. The goal was her second goal of the spring season.

The Eagles came out strong in the second half. Creating another scoring opportunity, Lindsay Haw (Palm City, Fla.) received a penalty kick for being taken down inside FIU’s 18-yard box. Haw placed the ball on the right side of the net but the keeper made a great save and stole the Eagle’s second chance of a goal.

The Eagles were able to hold onto the win with solid defending. Both Kathleen Hunter (Safety Harbor, Fla.) and Ashley Ciesielczyk (Oregon, Ohio) had strong performances in the defense to keep the 1-0 victory.

The Lady Eagles are preparing for a game at the University of Florida on March 21.
