At barely 5 feet tall and maybe 100 pounds, FGCU senior defender KC Correllus routinely is faced with opponents who see the best line of attack being straight through her.
It's proven as ineffective as going around her.
Despite looking small enough to be entering middle school, the speedy Merritt Island product spearheads one of the best defenses in the nation, one looking to lead FGCU to the school's first Division-I NCAA tournament berth this fall.
"It plays to my advantage. People underestimate me and our whole back line," said Correllus, playfully teased at times by FGCU coach Jim Blankenship about her size despite growing a bit more this year. "He always calls me 4-11. But I am actually 5-1."
