FGCU Women's Tennis Blanks Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University’s women tennis team picked up their second win of the season with a 9-0 whitewash of the University of Tampa on Saturday afternoon. FGCU’s top four players won two matches apiece. Sophomore Jonalea Hileman (Fort Worth, TX) and sophomore Krista Polulak (Sarasota, FL) teamed up for a win at No. 1 doubles and then came through with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Freshman Maria Testa Maggiorini (Buenos Aires) and senior Izabela Ciesinski (Mississauga, Ontario) came through with a victory at No. 2 doubles before earning singles wins at No. 3 and No. 4. Senior Angie Mykieta (Bremen, Germany) won at No. 5 singles and junior Stephanie Oldock won at No.6. Mykieta teamed up with freshman Brett Kinley (Boynton Beach, FL) for a win at No. 3 doubles. FGCU, which evened its record at 2-2, hosts Eckerd College on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the FGCU Tennis Complex. Singles competition 1. Jonalea Hileman (FGCU) def. Paula Fillion (UT) 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (5) 2.
