FGCU Women's Tennis Upsets #24 Indianapolis

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University women’s tennis team stunned the 24th ranked University of Indianapolis 9-0 at the FGCU Tennis Complex Friday afternoon.
The Eagles bounced back from a loss to #2 Armstrong Atlantic State earlier in the day for their sixth win in their last seven dual matches. FGCU did not lose a set in knocking off their first Division II top-25 foe of the season.
Five players picked up a pair of wins for the Eagles. Freshman Maria Testa Maggiorini (Buenos Aires) picked up a win at No.1 singles to improve to 6-1 in the top position and teamed up with sophomore Krista Polulak (Sarasota) for a win at No. 1 doubles. Polulak was also a repeat winner at No. 4 singles.
Sophomore Jonalea Hileman and senior Izabela Ciesinska (Mississauga, Ontario) won at No. 2 doubles before winning at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
Senior Angie Mykieta (Bremen, Germany) was victorious at No. 5 singles and is now 10-3 in dual matches this spring. Mykieta also teamed with freshman Brett Kinley (Boynton Beach, FL) for a win at No. 3 doubles. Freshman Lesley Anne Passolt (Plymouth, MN) was the winner at No. 6 singles.
FGCU (8-6) faces its third straight top-25 opponent when it hosts No.19 Nova Southeastern University on Saturday afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
