Eagles Ace Franklin Pierce in Women's Tennis

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast University women’s tennis team recorded its fifth shutout off the season with a 9-0 blanking of Franklin Pierce College at the FGCU Tennis Complex Sunday afternoon. The Eagles did not lose a game en route to their eighth win in nine matches. FGCU began the match with doubles victories by freshmen Maria Testa Maggiorini (Buenos Aires) and Lesley Passolt (Plymouth, MN) at No. 1, senior Izabela Ciensinska (Mississauga, Ontario) and sophomore Jonalea Hileman (Fort Worth, TX) at No. 2 and senior Angie Mykieta (Bremen, Germany) and freshman Brett Kinley (Boynton Beach, FL) at No.3. Maggiorini, Hileman, Ciesinska, Mykieta and Passolt also picked up singles wins for the Eagles. Sophomore Krista Polulak (Sarasota, FL) was also a single winner. Franklin Pierce dropped to 3-5 on the season. FGCU (10-6) hosts the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the FGCU Tennis Complex. Singles competition 1.
