FGCU Women's Tennis Earns Academic Honors
FORT MYERS, Fla. - For the third straight year, the Florida Gulf Coast University women’s tennis team has been named an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). In addition, eight team members were each named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
FGCU was one of 26 NCAA Division II women’s programs to earn All-Academic honors from the ITA this year. In order to qualify for the award, a program must have had a team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the entire 2004-2005 academic year.
In order to qualify as an ITA Scholar Athlete, an individual must be a varsity letter winner with a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale), and must have been enrolled at her present school for at least two semesters.
Among the 108 individuals honored in Division II were Izabela Ciensinska, Jonalea Hileman, Brett Kinley, Maria Testa Maggiorini, Angie Mykieta, Leslie-Anne Passolt, Krista Polulak and Samantha Ruppert.
The Eagles went 12-11 last season.
