No. 22 Women's Tennis Shuts Out Puerto Rico Mayaguez

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The No. 22 Florida Gulf Coast University’s women tennis team picked up their third win of the season with a 9-0 whitewash of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez on Sunday afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex. FGCU’s top six players won two matches apiece. Sophomores Maria Braniecka (Piotrowek, Poland) and Maria Maggiorini (Buenos Aires) teamed up for a win at No. 1 doubles and then came through with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Junior Jonalea Hileman (Fort Worth, Texas) and junior Krista Polulak (Sarasota, Fla.) came through with a victory at No. 2 doubles before earning singles wins at No. 3 and No. 4. Sophomore Brett Kinley (Boynton Beach, Fla.) won at No. 5 singles while freshman Joanne Power (Dublin, Ireland) won at No.6. Kinley and Power teamed up for a win at No. 3 doubles. FGCU (3-1) hosts Indiana-Purdue at Fort Wayne on Monday, March 6.
