Women's Tennis Sweeps Villanova

FORT MYERS, Fla., - The FGCU women’s tennis team easily defeated Villanova 7-0 on Sunday afternoon. The win ended a four game losing streak as FGCU improved to 2-5 while the Wildcats fall to 0-2.
FGCU took all three doubles matches including a 9-8 win at the #3 position by Brett Kinley and Leah Johnson. FGCU cruised with 8-3 and 8-1 wins at the #1 and #2 positions.
FGCU won all six singles spots in straight sets. Maria Braniecka and Maria Maggiorini won at #1 and #2 with scores of 6-1, 6-3 and 6-0, 6-1 respectively. Lauren Pfieffer won the tightest match of the day at the #3 position with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Courtney Reed.
The Eagles will be in action again tomorrow morning when they host Fairfield at 10:00 am and again on Tuesday when Toledo visits the FGCU tennis Complex.
