Women's Tennis Falls in Tough Match to Iowa State

FORT MYERS, Fla., - The FGCU women’s tennis team dropped a close match against Iowa State 4-3 on Tuesday. The Eagles fall to 4-10 while Iowa State improves to 4-5. I

owa State swept the three doubles matches for the doubles point. The Cyclones won 8-4 at the #1 spot and 8-3 and 8-2 respectively at the #2 and #3 spots for the doubles point.

FGCU then began to gain momentum in singles. Maria Maggiorini cruised 6-0, 6-1 at #1 singles. The Eagles also picked up wins at #2 and #4 singles. Maria Braniecka won a three-set event 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 while Jordan Vaughn won in straight sets at #4.

Iowa State would pick up wins at #3, #5 and #6 to hang on for the 4-3 win. The Eagles will be back in action again on Friday when they travel to Johnson City to face East Tennessee State.
