FORT MYERS, Fla. – In just under three hours Sunday, the FGCU women’s tennis team scored a 7-0 victory over the Big East’s Providence College today at the FGCU Tennis Complex. The win marks FGCU’s second 7-0 victory on the season.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 2-3 on the season, while Providence drops to 0-2.

In doubles action the Blue and Green swept the doubles point, dropping just one game total on three courts. “We’ve really been working on our doubles and to see the girls come out and execute was fantastic,” said head coach Jennifer Gabou.

In singles play, Jessica Sweeting (Freeport, Bahamas) and Priscillia Villemond (Les Bordes, France) each improved to 5-0 this season without dropping a game at positions two and three. Freshmen Farah Leclercq (Ocala, Fla.) and Morgan Bechtel (Toledo, Fla.) followed suit, winning their matches 6-0, 6-0, respectively.

The Eagles will host Boston College tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.  The match, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday (Mar. 2), was moved to Monday due to the anticipated inclement weather in the area on Tuesday.
