FGCU Women's Tennis Falls to UNF, 6-1

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU women’s tennis team fell to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in A-Sun play with a 6-1 loss to North Florida on Thursday at the FGCU Tennis Complex. Morgan Bechtel was the lone singles winner for the Eagles, winning 6-3, 6-4, at No. 6 singles.

The duo of Sweeting/Evans pulled out an 8-6 win over Day/St. John on court two, but the Ospreys took the other two matches to claim the doubles point.

In singles play, Bechtel (Toledo, Ohio) defeated Heather St. John on court six, 6-3, 6-4. Jessica Sweeting (Freeport, Bahamas) forced a tiebreak after winning the second set, but lost to Raquel Castro, 6-3, 6-7 (3), 10-5.

Next up, the Eagles will take on Jacksonville on Saturday, March 6, at the FGCU Tennis Complex. The match was originally scheduled for 2:30 p.m., but has been moved up to 10 a.m.
