FGCU Women's Tennis Blasts Lipscomb, 7-0

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The FGCU women's tennis team made quick work of the Lipscomb Bisons today, winning 7-0 in Nashville, Tenn. With the win the Blue and Green improve to 6-8, 3-3 in the A-Sun. The Eagles won the doubles point and dominated in singles, picking up all six singles points.

Junior Priscillia Villemond (Les Bordes, France) fought back from a 1-6 first set loss to defeat Mackenzie Bishop, 1-6, 6-4, 10-6. "Bishop played a tremendous first set and to see Prisci fight back and win the match was very impressive," said head coach Jennifer Gabou.

With the win, Villemond improves her season singles record to 10-4, while the doubles tandem of Jessica Sweeting (Freeport, Bahamas) and Jen Evans (Fort Myers, Fla.) improve to 10-4 as well.

In the other five singles matches, the Eagles dropped a combined nine games, winning all five matches in straight sets. Morgan Bechtel (Toledo, Ohio) dominated on court six, winning 6-0, 6-0, while Sweeting was nearly as impressive on court two, winning 6-0, 6-1.

FGCU will be back in action tomorrow when they visit Belmont. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m.
