Women's Tennis Volunteers at IMPACT For Kids
The Eagles spent the day mentoring and spending time with the young children in the IMPACT program.
"It's a lot of fun to play with the kids and it’s nice to see how much they enjoy our visits,” said senior Jessica Sweeting (Freeport, Bahamas/USF).
IMPACT is a private, not for profit organization, focused on the advancement of children ages birth to 5 who are considered at risk due to a variety of delays or conditions that could impair their early childhood development. It is their mission to prevent or reduce the severity of disabilities by providing child development programs, therapeutic intervention, and parent education and support.
"Volunteering at IMPACT is a great experience and it gives me a rewarding feeling to play with the kids and making them laugh,” commented senior Iris Rendon (San Antonio, Texas/Tyler Junior College). “They all seem to enjoy the time we share there and it gives them a chance to meet new people and have fun as well."
Last year's team achieved their goal of completing 400 hours of community service, volunteering their time at a number of local events. Keeping up with this season’s initiative, the Eagles will be volunteering at the Special Equestrians, Haitian Relief, and the CCMI Soup Kitchen this year.
