A-Sun Duals Upcoming for Women's Tennis

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Looking to continue their winning ways, the FGCU women’s tennis team is set to host a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference matches at the FGCU Tennis Complex. The Eagles square off with Belmont on Thursday beginning at 3 p.m. and continues with Lipscomb on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Coming off back-to-back dual victories over Mercer, 4-3, and George Washington, 4-3, the Blue and Green bring a 6-5 (2-3 A-Sun) record into the pair of contests.

Six student-athletes will be competing in the pair of duals, including senior Iris Rendon (San Antonio, Texas/Tyler Junior College), junior Jen Evans (Fort Myers, Fla./Evangelical Christian HS), sophomores Bibiana Almeida (Porto, Portugal/Schiller International School) and Morgan Bechtel (Toledo, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy), as well as, freshmen Bettina Botha (Cape Town, South Africa/De Kuilen HS) and Gyanna Mandic (Oshowa, Canada/Edison Academies).

Belmont travels to Fort Myers with a 5-7 (1-2 A-Sun) mark after defeating Mercer, 4-3, and losing to Kennesaw State, 6-1, and ETSU, 7-0, in A-Sun action. Prior to the meeting with the Eagles, Lipscomb takes its 2-8 (1-2 A-Sun) record to Stetson on Thursday. The Bisons also defeated Mercer, 4-3, and dropped 7-0 matches to Kennesaw State and ETSU.
