FGCU Women's Tennis Defeats IPFW

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast University women’s tennis team handily defeated Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne 8-1 on Monday afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex. FGCU improves its record to four wins and one loss. FGCU’s top four players won in singles action at two matches each. Junior Krista Polulak (Sarasota, Fla) tied for fourth all-time in singles wins at FGCU, with her win at No. 4 singles Monday afternoon. Sophomore Maria Braniecka (Piotrowek, Poland) teamed up with junior Jonalea Hileman (Fort Worth, TX) for a win at No. 1 doubles, and also came through with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Sophomore Maria Maggiorini (Buenos Aires, Argentina) joined Polulak in a victory at No. 2 doubles. Maggiorini also won at No. 2 singles. Freshman Joanne Power (Dublin, Ireland) won her singles match at No. 6, and also won at No. 3 doubles with sophomore Brett Kinley (Boynton Beach, Fla). FGCU (4-1) will host LaSalle University on Tuesday, March 7.
