Women's Tennis Drops to 1-4

FORT MYERS, Fla., - The FGCU women’s tennis team fell 5-2 to Campbell on Thursday afternoon. The Camels improve to 7-1 while FGCU falls to 1-4 after their third straight loss. The match marked the league openers for both squads.
Campbell took the doubles point by winning the #2 and #3 singles positions. Maria Braniecka and Jordan Vaughn won 8-2 at the #1 position for FGCU.
In singles action, the Eagles picked up wins at the #1 and #2 positions while the Camels swept the remaining four matches. Braniecka swept Scarlett Alfonzo 6-0, 6-0 while Maria Maggiorini knocked off Blanca Saenz 6-4, 6-4 for the Eagles two points.
FGCU will be back in action on Saturday at 10:00 when they host Gardner-Webb at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
