FORT MYERS, Fla., - The FGCU women’s tennis team won its second straight match with a 5-2 win over Fairfield. The Eagles move to 3-5 while Fairfield falls to 1-4.

FGCU won the doubles point by sweeping the three matches, all three in convincing fashion. FGCU won at the #1 and #3 position with scores of 8-3 and an 8-1 win in the #2 position.

Maria Maggiorini won 6-0, 6-0 at the #1 position over Alyssa Ruiz. The Eagles won at the #4, #5 and #6 positions. Joanne Power defeated Gretchen Amberg 2-6, 6-3 and 11-9 in one of the more entertaining matches of the day at the #5 spot. The Eagles picked up easy wins with Brett Kinley (6-1, 6-1) and Maggie Caulk (6-3, 6-0) at the #4 and #6 spots.

FGCU will be back in action tomorrow when they host Toledo at 2:00 pm at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
