Women's Tennis Falls to Temple

FORT MYERS, Fla., - The FGCU women’s tennis team fell 4-0 to Temple, the match was unfinished due to rain, however Temple had already clinched the match when the rain came. FGCU falls to 3-8 while Temple improves to 9-2.

The Owls won the doubles point, winning all three matches to take the early 1-0 lead. The Owls won at #3, #4 and #6 singles to clinch the match, both in straight sets. Temple got a 6-3, 6-1 win at #3 as Christine Clermont won over Maria Braniecka. Anastasiya Rukavyshnykova won 6-1, 6-2 at the #4 spot while T. Stangle won 6-2, 6-0 over Leah Johnson at the #6 position. The other three matches were left unfinished as the rain fell.

The Eagles will be in action again on Monday when they face Coastal Carolina at 9:00 am in the first round of a tournament. Drake faces Ohio State at the same time and the winners and losers will play at 3:00 pm at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
