FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Eagles women’s tennis team completed the first annual Eagle SOAR on Saturday, September 6th.  The Eagle SOAR is a super-sprint triathlon consisting of a 6.25 mile bike, 1.5 mile run, and 0.25 mile swim.  The theme of this event was “8 Miles of Heart.”

The triathlon was an inter-squad competition for which the team was split into two teams:  Team Blue and Team Green.  Team Green, made up of Maggie Caulk, Joanne Power, Priscillia Villemond, and Heather St. John defeated Team Blue, made up of Eva Sambrano, Lauren Pfeiffer, Leah Johnson, and Brittany Wadsworth.

After the event head coach Jennifer Gabou said, “I am extremely proud of our girls completing a triathlon.  This accomplishment is a testament to their hard work and perseverance as not many teams would tackle such a daunting task.  We are really looking forward to the 2008-09 season.”

The FGCU Women's Tennis 2008-09 schedule is expected to be released in early November.
