FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU women’s tennis head coach Jennifer Gabou announced that Gyanna Mandic has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Florida Gulf Coast University next fall and play for the 2010-11 Eagle tennis team.

Hailing from Canada, Mandic is a senior at Edison High School in Bradenton, Florida, and is ranked in the top 100 in the United States. She currently trains under the tutelage of Johan Kriek at Springbok Academy in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, and is a 4-star on the www.tennisrecruiting.net website. Her junior career highlights include winning the LAC Super Series and Colony Summer Championship as well as reaching #750 on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Tour.

“The entire team is thrilled that Gyanna will be joining us next fall,” Gabou said. “She is a solid player from the baseline and will certainly be able to make an immediate impact. Her work ethic and attitude on the court are superb; she is the type of all around student athlete that we’ve been looking for.”

The Eagles open the 2010 spring season by hosting the Eagle Invitational tournament, which begins January 16th at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
