FGCU Women's Tennis Falls to No. 50 Mississippi State, 6-1

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU women's tennis team fell to No. 50 Mississippi State University today by a score of 6-1 at the FGCU Tennis Complex. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 5-8 on the season, while the Bulldogs improve to 9-4.

After MSU swept all three doubles matches, junior Priscillia Villemond (Les Bordes, France) scored the Eagles lone point by defeating Oleysa Tsigvintseva at position number one, 6-3, 6-3. With the win, Villemond improves to 9-4 this season in singles.

The Eagles will travel to Nashville, Tenn., for a pair of A-Sun matches this weekend. FGCU will play at Lipscomb at 2 p.m. on Friday (Mar. 19) and at Belmont at 10 a.m. on Saturday (Mar. 20).

The final home match of the season will be next Thursday, Mar. 25 at 2:30 p.m. against Mercer University. Seniors Maggie Caulk (Rockford, Ill.), Priscillia Villemond, and Eva Sambrano (Tampa, Fla.) will be honored prior to the start of the match.
