Women's Tennis Heads to UNF Fall Invitational

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Heading to the River City this weekend, the FGCU women’s tennis team will take the road for the UNF Fall Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. The competition gets underway on Friday morning and concludes on Sunday afternoon.

“I am really looking forward to seeing our team play against some really strong teams this weeekend,” said third-year head coach Jennifer Gabou. “They have been working very hard this fall and I am excited to see them out there on the courts.”

The Blue and Green face some tough competition coming from Troy, Samford and Charleston Southern, as well as fellow Atlantic Sun members Jacksonville, Stetson and UNF. Troy and UNF each received ITA National Rankings a season ago.

The field will also feature nationally ranked players in Aline Berkenbrock of UNF as well as the doubles tandem of Unnati Purushotham and Carolina de los Santos of Stetson, who just returned from competing in the ITA All-American in Los Angeles, California.

Leading FGCU into the weekend competition, sophomore Melissa Narzissenfeld (Tampa, Fla./Academy of the Holy Names) looks to improve her 3-0 mark, coming off of her victory in the D Flight of the FGCU Fall Classic.
