Women's Tennis Preps for Pair of Weekend Duals

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Coming off a successful FGCU-Hilton Garden Inn Invitational to open the season, the FGCU women’s tennis team is set to compete in the first dual matches of the spring, beginning with a trip to Boca Raton, Fla. to square off against FAU on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

The Eagles will return to the FGCU Tennis Complex on Sunday morning for a matchup with Bethune-Cookman at 10 a.m.

Picked to finish fourth in the Atlantic Sun preseason voting, the Blue and Green will travel six student-athletes to the Saturday afternoon contest against the Owls. FAU holds a 1-3 overall dual record, with its lone victory coming at Bethune-Cookman, 7-0, and its most recent contest resulting in a 7-0 loss to A-Sun Conference member Stetson in DeLand, Fla.

Landing back at the FGCU Tennis Complex on Sunday morning, the Eagles will face off against Bethune-Cookman. Riding a three-match losing streak, the Wildcats travel to Bradenton, Fla. for their Saturday competition against State College of Florida before facing off against the Eagles. FGCU will look to improve upon its all-time record of 3-0 against the Wildcats over the weekend.
