Doubles Team Earns Win at Day Two at UNLV Invitational

LAS VEGAS, N.V. – The FGCU women’s tennis team completed Day Two at the UNLV Invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on Saturday. Junior Morgan Bechtel (Toledo, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) and sophomore Bettina Botha (Cape Town, South Africa/De Kuilen HS) earned a doubles victory.

Bechtel and Botha picked up their first doubles win of the fall season with an 8-5 win against Long Beach State’s Anna Jeczmionka and Karolina Rozenberg.

Senior Jen Evans (Fort Myers, Fla./Evangelical Christian HS) and Gyanna Mandic (Oshowa, Canada/Edison Academies) had an early 3-0 lead in their doubles match against Julia Jones and Iris Verboven, from Ole Miss. Evans and Mandic had broken serve twice but eventually fell, 8-5, to Jones and Verboven in the doubles quarter-finals.

The Tournament will conclude tomorrow with doubles and singles finals starting at 10 a.m.
