Women's Tennis Set for Non-Conference Showdown Against No. 37 Boston College

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU women’s tennis team is ready for a home non-conference match against ACC foe No. 37 Boston College on Monday, Mar. 5 at 4 p.m. at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
FGCU is 3-3 (1-0 A-Sun) on the season with wins over Bethune-Cookman (W, 6-1), Kennesaw State (W, 4-3) and Villanova (W, 6-1).
The Green and Blue are led by sophomore Bettina Botha (Cape Town, South Africa/DeKuilen HS) who holds a 4-1 dual match record at No. 5 singles. Freshman Sarah Means (Wesley Chapel, Fla./Wiregrass Ranch HS) is 3-3 at No. 1 singles for FGCU.
In doubles, senior Jen Evans (Fort Myers, Fla./Evangelical Christian HS) and sophomore Gyanna Mandic (Oshowa, Canada/Edison Academies) have a 5-1 dual match record and are on a two-match winning streak.
Boston College enters the contest with a 6-4 record after defeating then-No. 38 Brown, 4-2, on Feb. 19. Juniors partners Olga Khmylev and Alex Kelleher earned the 18th ranking nationally in the latest ITA doubles rankings. The pair is 4-4 in dual action this spring and 18-4 overall in 2011-12. BC (6-4, 1-1 ACC) registered a program-high No. 33 ranking last season. After facing FGCU, Boston College takes on No. 26 USF on March 7 and No. 10 Miami on March 9.
FGCU continues its home stand with a non-conference match against SIU-Edwardsville on Wednesday, Mar. 7 at 10 a.m. at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
