FORT MYERS, Fla. – With two regular season dual matches remaining in the 2013 regular season, the FGCU women’s tennis team will hit the road to take on Stetson on Saturday, April 13 at 2 p.m. to close out regular season conference play before facing Bethune-Cookman on Sunday, April 14 at 10 a.m. for FGCU’s regular season finale.

Entering with a 10-6 overall record and a 4-3 mark in A-Sun play, FGCU will look to snap its three-match losing skid with the Eagles not having come out of a dual match victorious since March 23.

With the start of the Atlantic Sun Championship tournament one week away, the Green and Blue will work to become strong throughout its entire lineup on both the singles and doubles courts. The Eagles will look to jump ahead early on both the Hatters and Wildcats to avoid playing from behind which has been the downfall to FGCU as of late.

Stetson (9-9, 4-3 A-Sun) will enter its dual match with FGCU with the upper hand in the series history between the two programs as the Hatters have won three of the four matches in their all-time history against each other. The two teams last met on April 7, 2012 at the FGCU Tennis Complex with FGCU coming out on top with a close 4-3 triumph. The Eagles will look to make it two in a row against the Hatters and collect their first victory at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center as FGCU is 0-2 all-time on Stetson’s home courts.

In an effort to refine its skills before competing in the A-Sun tournament, FGCU will step out of conference play to take on Bethune-Cookman (13-9, 3-1 MEAC) for its final regular season spring dual match of 2013. The Eagles and Wildcats have met a total of five times with FGCU not having lost to Bethune-Cookman in any of the five matches with all five victories having come in decisive fashion.

If the Eagles collect one victory over the weekend they will set a Division I program record for wins in a season. The current record is 10 wins which was set during the 2012 dual match season, FGCU currently has already tied the record with 10 wins through 16 dual matches this season.

After its two road matches over the weekend, the Green and Blue will shift their focus to the A-Sun Championship that will be hosted by ETSU in Johnson City, Tenn. The championships will begin with the quarterfinal round on Friday, April 19.

Following the match, results and a recap from the dual match action will be available at www.FGCUATHLETICS.com.
