A-Sun All-Academic Team
Named  to the Atlantic Sun Academic All-Conference team with a 3.91 GPA majoring in Finance …  playing the No. 3 singles slot Sterkel went 13-8 overall highlighted by a 6-2 mark in league action … partnered with Bettina Botha to post a team-leading 13-7 record playing No. 2 doubles with a 6-2 mark in the conference play … in the fall she a Botha became the further-advancing pair in the history of FGCU playing in the semifinals of the Bedford Cup … playing No. 2 doubles, beat sixth-seed Lipscomb (Apr. 17) in the quarterfinal round of the 2014 A-Sun Championship.

As a Freshman (2012-13)
A-Sun All-Freshman Team 
Named to the A-Sun All-Freshman Team ... played multiple singles positions in the FGCU lineup and recorded an overall singles record of 13-5 in dual match competition while going 5-2 in A-Sun play ... In the No. 3 singles spot, Sterkel has gone 8-5 and in the No. 4 spot she has been a flawless 4-0 in 2013 while being 6-3 in her last nine singles matches, including a victory in the No. 2 singles lineup ... Playing in the No. 2 doubles position for FGCU in 18 matches this season; Sterkel is 10-8 in those dual matches ... In conference play has a 4-2 record in the No. 2 doubles spot.

High School
Was ranked 130 in the Open women’s rankings and is No. 29 in the under-18 list for Germany … played in a few ITF Junior championships in Berlin, Moenchengladbach, Offenbach, Bruchkoebel (Germany) and Luzern (Switzerland) … attended Bishop Verot High School as a foreign exchange student from 2008-09.

Born on December 24, 1992 … finance major … daughter of Uorhn and Gudrun Sterkel … has two sisters, Julia (23) and Luisa (15) … favorite athlete is Roger Federer … chose FGCU because of the beautiful campus, location and to play Division I tennis.
