DUNK CITY, Fla. – FGCU men's basketball head coach
Joe Dooley announced Saturday that redshirt junior
Julian DeBose has been suspended for the first three games of the season, beginning this afternoon against Nova Southeastern University, for a violation of team rules.
In addition to Saturday's contest, DeBose – who transferred to FGCU last year from Rice following his sophomore season - will miss FGCU's home games next week against UC Santa Barbara (Monday, Nov. 17) and Ohio (Wednesday, Nov. 19).
A native of Washington, D.C., DeBose started all 31 games in his final season at Rice, finishing second on the team in scoring (10.4 per game) and rebounding (4.3 per game). The 6-4 guard scored in double figures 19 times that year, highlighted by a career-high 20 points against New Orleans in January.
FGCU tips off the season at 2 p.m. at Alico Arena against NSU. A limited amount of tickets are still available, and the game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
