Finding themselves in an elimination game for the second straight day, this time against 2013 Atlantic Sun regular season champion and No. 1 North Florida (42-14, 18-6 A-Sun), the No. 3 FGCU softball team (36-18, 16-7 A-Sun) suffered a, 2-1, defeat in the bottom of the seventh inning in their matchup with the Ospreys on Friday afternoon at Draper Diamond.

After surviving an elimination game on Thursday afternoon against No. 5 Kennesaw State, the No. 3 FGCU softball team (36-17, 16-7 A-Sun) will look extend its stay at the 2013 Atlantic Sun Softball Championship when it takes on No. 1 North Florida (41-14, 18-6 A-Sun) on Friday, May 10 at 4:00 p.m. EST at Draper Diamond.

With its backs against the wall in day two of the 2013 Atlantic Sun Championship, the No. 3 FGCU softball team (36-17, 16-7 A-Sun) collected a walk-off win over No. 5 Kennesaw State in the first elimination game of the double-elimination tournament on Thursday afternoon at Draper Diamond.

In the first game of the 2013 Atlantic Sun tournament, the No. 3 FGCU softball team (35-17, 16-7 A-Sun) fell, 14-6, to in-state rival and No. 6 Stetson in it’s A-Sun tournament opener on Wednesday afternoon at Draper Diamond, home of the Lipscomb Bisons.

With the 2013 regular season now having come to a close, the FGCU softball team (35-16, 16-7 A-Sun) collected a total of five Atlantic Sun Conference postseason honors among three Eagles, four came in the form of A-Sun All-Conference honors, while the other two were A-Sun All-Academic honors, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.

After a scheduled three-game series at UNF (May 3-4) was rained out because of in climate weather in Jacksonville to wrap up the 2013 regular season, the FGCU softball team will turn the page to the postseason for the Atlantic Sun tournament hosted by Lipscomb at Draper Diamond in Nashville, Tenn. FGCU will look to remain on its hot streak as the Eagles have won eight of their last nine games.
